Beauty Clinic Owner Accused of Criminal Conspiracy

Original Article: http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/notas/633033.html

Blanca Isabel Valentina de Albornoz Peña is accused with the crimes of criminal conspiracy, damages and fraud, all of which are considered serious offenses. Therefore, if the Prosecutor’s Office brings the case before authorities, she will be ineligible to be released on bail.

During the investigation of the three charges made by the number of people who were seen at the clinic owned by the accused—one with irreversible damage to her ears—it has been discovered that Blanca Isabel has only completed high school studies, and the degrees obtained from her alleged medical studies have not been presented.

Three other employees of the clinic known as Valentina Medicina Estética (Valentina Cosmetic Surgery) have been charged with the crime of criminal conspiracy. They are being investigated and their arrest is pending.

The district attorney of the Central Agency of Investigations of the general Prosecutor’s Office of the Federal District (PGJDF), Oscar Montes de Oca, informed the public that among the accused is the alleged doctor Jeremías Flores Felipe, who has been charged with raping one of his patients.

The accused, against whom an arrest order is pending, was the same man who treated the singer Alejandra Guzmán, who is currently hospitalized, and who, for the moment, has not filed any charges against these individuals.

The government official indicated that the accused remains at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and that 9:41AM tomorrow is the deadline for her to be transferred to the women’s prison in Mexico City.

Due to the charges and to the fact that expired injections were found during the searches conducted of one of the branches of the clinic, notice will be given to the local and federal secretaries of health, as well as to the Miguel Hidalgo police station, so they may conduct the necessary procedures, such as shutting down the clinic.

Furthermore, two employees of the clinic declared before the Public Prosecutor that the products administered do not have the authorization of the distributors and do not have holograms of authenticity.

One Injection Ended the Fantasy of Perfection

Ana Lilia Pérez, de 38 años, acudió a principios de abril a la estética.Original Article: http://impreso.milenio.com/node/8577281

One injection was enough for Ana Lilia Pérez to build up all the years and health problems that she was trying to spare herself with the supposed “anti-aging” treatment used widely by famous women in the entertainment industry.

She read in various different magazines information about the “miracles” offered by the establishment Medicina Estética Valentina (Valentina Cosmetic Surgery), managed by Valentina de Albornoz, to keep a mature body free of wrinkles, full of energy and vitality, free from bad cholesterol, osteoporosis, sleep disorders and chronic degenerative diseases.

Ana Lilia Pérez is only 38 years old, and not even all her knowledge in the areas of sales and advertising impeded her from being dazzled by the “miraculous” formula that could eliminate all fatigue and stress built up from managing the most important portfolio of her company.

On April 6, Ana Lilia went to the famous cosmetic surgery clinic, visited by Gloria Trevi, Alejandra Guzmán, Fabiruchis and others, located at Montes Athos 155, Lomas Virreyes district, where she was informed that the “Human Ultracell” treatment consists of 4 ampoules, one per week, with a cost of 31,050 pesos, with the option of six months with no interest.

“They told me it wasn’t necessary to do any kind of prior clinical analysis, that it caused no allergic reactions or any type of complications. The application was very simple, by way of intramuscular injection, so I paid and was given an appointment for the following day,” she recalls.

The next day, a supposed nurse named ‘Lety’ administered the injection in the right gluteus and “immediately I began to feel an intense pain, that never let up, on the contrary, it intensified to the point of causing nausea and dizziness, fever, trembling, “I had a hellish night. I felt like I was going to faint.”
The area where the injection had been made initially turned hard, hot, and reddish, and then turned a darker color. “I couldn’t even stand up any more,” and she missed work as a result.

Ana Lilia called Elías Licona Salinas, a doctor whom she trusted, who detected intense local and generalized infection that could trigger “septic shock” or “septicemia” (infection of the blood caused by uncontrollable spread of bacteria) that “put my life at risk.”

Despite the treatment of Licona Salinas, the abscess in the gluteus continued growing and, for that reason, on Tuesday, April 14th she went back to the cosmetic surgery clinic to be seen by the provider of the medicine.

Ana Lilia was accompanied by María Eugenia Pérez, her cousin, who recorded via cell phone the entire diagnostic examination conducted by the doctor Luis Sánchez de la Vega. “This must be a misapplication of the ampoule…it was applied outside of the appropriate area and without sterilization.”

The clinic sent the patient to be seen by doctor María Rojas Aguado, who began to “drain the swollen area” removing “a large quantity of greenish-yellow liquid” merely by squeezing the abscess.

“Nothing improved,” on the contrary, the owner Valentina de Albornoz was so surprised by the resulting injuries that she returned the money Ana Lilia had paid and subjected her to a “treatment” based on continuous injections with 30-centimeter-long needles that only caused her health to further deteriorate.
She then went to the Santa Monica Hospital, where doctor George Othero Nunes controlled the infection and also suggested double plastic surgery: the first of the operations to extract the entire damaged area and the second to refill the hole.

Ana Lilia Pérez filed civil and criminal charges at branch 30 of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Manuel Hidalgo, FMH/MH-3/T3/377/09-05 against Medicina Estética Valentina (Valentina Cosmetic Surgery), for the crimes of damages, professional usurpation, and pain and suffering.

-Keys
Permission of SSA

  • On April 30, 2008, the First District of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation declared that only people who have a registered medical specialization from the educational authorities and the authorization of the Secretary of Health will be able to conduct cosmetic and plastic surgeries.
  • The First District stressed that one of the fundamental requirements to obtain the authorization of the SSA is to possess a certificate of some medical specialization, which implies that the professionals in these materials do not have specialized studies and will absolutely not be able to conduct the plastic and cosmetic surgeries described.

Spoiled by the Stars
***Valentina de Albornoz is, in the world of showbiz, one of the best-known “cosmetologists,” because she provides services to artists such as Alejandra Guzmán, Gloria Trevi, Lupita D’Alessio and Silvia Pasquel, among others.
On her website, Valentina de Albornoz assures that she is licensed in business administration by the University of Santiago in Chile and that she has a master’s degree in marketing, with a wide variety of certifications.
In the section “Who We Are,” there is no reference to the work they conduct; the page is blank. Nevertheless, in another link on the page, detailed information is provided about all the cosmetic procedures they can conduct, such as surgical nose correction.

Also, lip plumping and lining, botox, general face lift, softening expression lines; they also offer facials, peeling, by which dead skin is removed, and all types of massages. They assure that they have medically certified staff. However, the website does not show the proof of authorization of the Secretary of Health to conduct those procedures. (México • Blanca Valadez)
